There are nine so-called “hidden champions” in Essen. These are companies that are rather unknown but are world leaders in their field. This is the number from a study conducted by the University of Trier.
For the first time, the NRW Ministry of Economics has requested the University of Trier to systematically investigate how many of these companies are located in Northrhine-Westfalia. The study came up with 690 “hidden champions”. More than in any other federal state.
According to the study, there are 100 such companies in the Ruhr area.
For Essen, the study lists nine hidden champions, and Oschatz Energy and Environment GmbH is one of them.
