The awards ceremony for the prestigious Energy Globe STYRIA AWARD, which recognises projects in the fields of energy and the environment, was held on 5 April 2017 in Graz. On this occasion, the projects nominated in each of the five categories – implementation, campaign, research, youth and international – were presented. Our partner, the Montan University in Leoben, had put forward two projects in the categories research and international: “ReNOx”, which aims to produce an industrial-grade denitrification agent from by-products from biogas and purification plants, and “EE-Methan”, which aims to derive environmentally-friendly methane from carbon dioxide.
This year, we missed out on a place on the winner’s podium, but both projects received notable mentions in their respective category. A total of 75 projects from all across Styria had been put forward for the award; the jury, made up of specialists in each field, was impressed by the range of ideas and the regional know-how that was demonstrated.
